The senator representing Rivers East senatorial District, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with thousands of his supporters.
This was made know to the general public through the facebook account of Engr. Emeka Woke, a PDP chieftain and the current chief of staff to the Rivers State Government under Governor Nyesom Wike’s led administration.
Recall that Senator Magnus Ngei Abe who was a Governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC and his loyalists adopted direct primary election while the faction loyal to Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, went for indirect primaries.
Sen. Magnus Abe’s faction produced him as the governorship candidate while the Amaechi’s led faction produced Arch. Tonye Cole, former executive director of Sahara Group as its Governorship candidate.
Sen. Magnus Abe and his supporters who felt marginalized proceeded to the state high court, to file a suit on the ground that the congress which produced the state party executives led by Ojukaye is null and void. And the Peter Odike’s led Excos is authentic and should be recognized.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) irrespective of the matter at the state high court, recognized the Amaechi’s led faction which produced Arch. Tonye Cole.
Senator Magnus Ngei Abe and his supporters who felt unsatisfied with the decision of the All Progressives Congress, APC National Working Committee (NWC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decided to dump the All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
According to Engr. Emeka Woke, all is now set for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to welcome Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to the party.
