A landlord (name withheld) in the Ogbumnuabali area of Port-Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State Thursday, locked up the office of Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) in the area over non-payment rent.
It was learnt that the company has defaulted in its mortgage payment since December 2020 till date.
The Landlord took a seat and patiently sat at the door of the office to press home his grievances.
PHED officials who were taken aback at the turn of events, however, attended to customers from their cars even as the landlord refused to vacate the facility.
Some respondents who spoke with our correspondent, said the situation was ridiculous.
“So, these people who show no mercy when they disconnect defaulting consumers even when power supply is erractic can also owe someone ?
They should pay up to avoid this show of shame, ” a respondent said.
