Speaking with Wazobia Infos, Argungu who is also the chairman of the selection committee said there have been efforts by some people to hijack the scheme.
He further added the recent furore and dust raised is because of clashes of interest as some members of the National Assembly want to oversee and control the project.
National Directorate of Employment said the beneficiaries will not be disengaged after three months Credit. Argungu said the federal government, through the Ministry of Labour and Employment, will not give room for possible manipulation of the project.
He further claimed that if successfully executed, the project will boost local economy, provide jobs and help reduce the level of poverty.
“I believe is one of the most important (objective of the scheme). We’re not just to engage 1,000 young men and women in each local government after three months.
“We have carried out studies across the nation, we are going to use these young men and women as agricultural extension workers. We’ve put everything in place, we did some studies,” Argungu said.
