It is of great importance to bring to the public domain, the height of negligence and disrespect done to the traditional institution of Emohua Kingdom by the present governor of Rivers State, Gov. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Truly, it is said “You won’t know a man until he gets what he wants from you”. Prior to 2015 general election, as a Supervising Minister of Education, Wike visited the Palace of Eze Vincent Chituru Benson Okor, the Nne we eli Emohua, where he was honored by the same traditional institution that he doesn’t want to set his eyes on any longer.
According to the tradition of Emohua Kingdom, no government official of such level (Governor) comes into the community for political rallies without visiting the Palace of the ‘Nne we eli’, I wonder why some prominent sons of Emohua will continue to desecrate the tradition of our prestigious kingdom, just to show cheap political respect to the Governor.

As a governor seeking reelection in 2003, Sir Dr. Peter Odili upon his arrival to Emohua for Emolga rally visited the Palace of Eze Emmanuel Joshua Anachor Oriji of the blessed memory, who was the ‘Nne we eli Emohua’. In the same vein, in 2011 during the golden era of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, he came to Emohua to consult the traditional institution and was received by the acting ‘Nne We Eli Emohua’, the person of Late. Dr Omenihu Orlu Rukani’, A machete was presented to him (Amaechi) by Chief Romeo Abah onbehalf of the traditional leaders as a symbol of authority given to him by the institution.
Regrettably, since the emergence of Gov. Wike as the Governor of Rivers state, he has visited Emohua more than 3times for one political rally or the other but never visited the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Vincent Chituru Benson Okor. As a youth of Emohua, I wish to ask my brothers who are close to the Governor, Have you no regard any longer for the tradition of our own land?
Recall in 2014, our brother who was an ally to the then Gov. of Rivers State aided the upliftment of our traditional stool from third class standard to the present first class status which we all are enjoying today. All we have in this present administration is the abandonment of projects like the Rumuche/Rumuakunde and Isiodu road, Emohua general hospital.
Conclusively, I wish to call on every well meaning sons/daughters of Emohua to rise up against this high level of disrespect, disregard and discourteous done to our tradition by the Governor of Rivers State, let’s speak at the poll.
God bless Rivers State!
God bless Emohua!!
